Donsö is an island and a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Västergötland .

It is located in Gothenburg's southern Gothenburg archipelago , in the municipality of Gothenburg, and is connected to the island of Styrsö by a bridge . There are also ferry connections to Saltholmen .

No less than 14 shipping companies are based here, which is said to be the highest density of shipping companies in the world per capita. Around 20% of the Swedish tanker fleet is owned by the Donsö shipping companies.
