The port in the municipality of Gothenburg is located on the island of Hisingen about 15 kilometers west of Gothenburg city center . From the port of Lilla Varholmen on the offshore island of the same name on the western edge of Hjuvik, the car ferries drive to the islands of Björkö , Grötö , Hönö and Öckerö in the northern Gothenburg archipelago , which forms the municipality of Öckerö .
