Doreen Häntzsch (born April 20, 1982 ) is a German saber fencer.

successes

The right-hander learned fencing at the Fechtsportverein Görlitz, but switched to FC Tauberbischofsheim in 2000 . Even as an A-youth , Häntzsch took part in the Junior World Championships from 2000 to 2002 , her best placement in 2002 being 22nd place. With the team she was sixth in the same year.

As an active player, she took third place with the saber national team at the World Championships in Nîmes in 2001, together with Sandra Benad , Susanne König and Stefanie Kubissa . At the 2001 European Championships in Koblenz, Häntzsch was the best German saber fencer in individual with eighth place. Nevertheless, she was not nominated for the team by national coach Martin Mündt . Because the teams were seeded individually according to the results, the seeding list could be influenced, so that an early duel against the then feared opponent Russia was prevented. This tactic worked: Without Häntzsch, the saber ladies became European champions with Sandra Benad, Susanne König, Stefanie Kubissa and substitute fencer Sabine Thieltges .

In 2007 Häntzsch fought again for the national saber team at the World Championships in Saint Petersburg , in the individual competition she could not start due to a torn muscle fiber. In 2008 she was 41st in the individual at the European Championships in Kiev. With FC Tauberbischofsheim she was twice third in the German team championships ( 2008 and 2009 ). At the German individual championships she was German runner- up in 2007 and won the bronze medal twice ( 2006 and 2008 ).
