Dorel Stoica (born April 5, 1978 in Drobeta Turnu Severin , Mehedinți district ) is a former Romanian football player and coach . The midfielder played a total of 167 games in the Romanian League 1 and the Saudi Arabian Professional League .
Career
Stoica's first professional station was FC Extensiv Craiova , where he was signed at the age of 25 in 2003 after playing in Divizia C for seven years . In its first season, the club was able to reach ninth place in the second Romanian division. When the club moved to Caracal the following year , he went with and repeated ninth place.
In 2005 he moved to FC Universitatea Craiova . With the club he made it to the top Romanian league 1 league . In the first and second seasons, the club was ninth. Seventh place could be achieved in the 2008/09 season. After half a year with Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Premier League , he moved to Steaua Bucharest in the summer of 2010 . Only two months later he left the club and has since played again for Universitatea Craiova. At the end of the 2010/11 season he had to relegate his club to League II . On July 4, 2011, he was appointed as the new head coach of Universitatea. In early August 2011 he left the club again and joined the first division club Dinamo Bucharest . There he won his first title with the cup win in 2012 .
In the summer of 2012, Stoica moved to al Shorta in Syria. After six months, he returned to Romania in February 2013 and was hired by CS Turnu Severin . There he had to relegate at the end of the 2012/13 season . He then moved to Universitatea Craiova in Liga II. There he ended his career after the 2013/14 season .
National team
Internationally, Stoica played four times for Romania and scored one goal. He made his debut on March 28, 2007 in the qualifier for the 2008 European Football Championship against Luxembourg . In the 87th minute he came on for Gabriel Tamaş , the game ended 3-0. His only international goal he scored in the World Cup qualifier for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa on March 28, 2009 against Serbia . Stoica scored the 2: 3 connection goal in the 2: 3 defeat.
