course

Estuary into Lake Zurich

The brook, initially called Chapfbach , rises in the forest area of Bannholz at approx. 825  m above sea level. M. above the hamlet of Wetzwil in the municipality of Herrliberg . It flows in a south-westerly direction and flows through Wetzwil , where it takes in the Froschgülenbach .

The stream, which is now called Wetzwilerbach , changes direction and flows to the northwest, accompanied by a narrow forest edge. At the farm it takes its longest side stream from the right, the Hoferbach . About 800 meters further on, at the Kittenmühle , it takes up the Müslibach and a little later from the right the Chappelibach , which forms the border between Erlenbach and Herrliberg on its short stream. Shortly after its confluence, it changes course and flows westward. Here the Dorfbach flows through a deeply cut, wooded ravine, where it forms waterfalls up to twelve meters high.

The village stream now encounters built-up areas, where it has been partially buried in the flatter terrain. After about six kilometers it flows into the village center of Erlenbach, where it has formed a small delta , at 406  m above sea level. M. in Lake Zurich.
