history

The building was erected in the last quarter of the 13th century and remodeled "Baroque" in the 18th century. In 1821 a porch was built on the southern side of the nave . The interior was rebuilt according to a design by the architect Franz Schwechten . In 1990 and 1991 the parish had the building renovated.

Building description

The structure was essentially built from field stones that were plastered at a later date . It is therefore not possible to make any statements about the timing and care of the execution without further investigation. The choir is straight and has not moved in. On the eastern wall of the choir, on the northern and southern sides, there is an elliptical screen , over which there is a high rectangular window, which is covered with slats. At each corner there is a narrow buttress that extends over the corner of the wall. There is an upright rectangular opening in the gable . All elements are emphasized by incised bezels .

The ship has a rectangular floor plan. On the north side there are two large arched windows. They are supplemented to the west by a small round window. Another buttress forms the end. The south side is largely identical. In the middle between the two arched windows, however, there is an additional, neo-Gothic extension with a rectangular floor plan. It can be entered from the south through an ogival portal. The corners are accentuated with pegs . On the west and east sides there is a narrow and ogival window. The gable is adorned with a three-pass , which was also designed as a cover. The nave and the annex have a simple gable roof .

The west tower has a square floor plan and is slightly indented opposite the nave. The field stones are still visible in the lower area, the rest of the structure is plastered. On the west side there is a large, ogival, beveled portal. In the middle area, on each of the three accessible sides, there is a large circular aperture in which two ogival openings are incorporated. Above this is the bell storey , which consists of a centrally mounted tower clock on each of the four sides as well as two laterally arranged, high rectangular sound arcades . Above a frieze that opens downwards extends the eight-fold kinked spire , which ends with a tower ball , weather vane and a star.

Furnishing

Altar wall

The classicistic altarpiece has a wall-shaped structure that was designed by Franz Schwechten around 1900. He structured the surface with pilasters and put a painting on the altar panel . It comes from Gregor Boldio , who depicted the Descent from the Cross in 1631 based on an original by Peter Paul Rubens . The painting was restored in 1859 by the Berlin portrait painter Eduard Wilhelm Kriesmann and in 2011 by Grit Jehmlich from Potsdam . Other church furnishings include a wooden crucifix from the 17th century and a wooden epitaph that commemorates Jost Friedrich Rudolf von Wulffen , who died in 1721 . This also includes two relief tombstones from 1612, which depict the deceased in their armor. Another tombstone was erected for Curt von Wulffen, who died in 1620, and his wife Elisabeth. One located on the south wall cartouche of stucco dates back to 1734 and recalls the von Finckenstein. On the north side of the tower hall is a cast iron stove plate from 1598. It shows an allegory of vanitas and scenes from the parable of the scoundrel .

The building has a glazed west gallery , which was used as a winter church earlier . The interior ends with a flat coffered ceiling .

To the southwest in front of the building, a memorial stone commemorates those who died in the world wars.
