Architecture and history

The Bischdorf Church was probably built towards the end of the 13th century. Originally it was a branch church to Schönfeld , in the 19th century it was subordinated to the nearby Kalkwitz village church . The building is a hall building from Feldstein in the Gothic style. In 1881 the old, ailing church tower was replaced by today's clock tower . The gable roof of the church was also raised. Between 1895 and 1900, the church was extensively rebuilt. The windows were also changed except for the three western lancets .

Inside the church has a wooden ceiling and a western gallery on which the organ is located. After the church was badly damaged during the Second World War , the church was repainted in 1947 by Paul Thol , the biblical motifs are based on those of the Bronkow village church .

Furnishing

The church has an aedicule altar from 1713. In the main field there is a plastic crucifix in front of a painted landscape. The altar is adorned with vegetal decoration on the sides. In 2005 the altar was restored. In addition, there is a pulpit connected to the parish chair from 1712 with paintings by the evangelists , the motifs were renewed in the 19th century. The baptism of the church dates back to the 18th century, it has various carvings and stands on a baluster with three acanthus feet and a round cup . The organ of the church dates from the time of renovation at the end of the 19th century.
