The Protestant village church Glienke is an aisle church from the 18th century in Glienke , a district of the city of Friedland in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The church belongs to the provost Neustrelitz in the parish of Mecklenburg of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

location

The village road leads into town from the north. In the historic center of the village it branches off to the west on the one hand and to the southeast on the other. On the plot spanned in this way, the church stands on a plot of land with a church cemetery , which is enclosed with a wall made of uncut and not layered field stones .

history

The church contains wall remains of a previous medieval building . After the Reformation it was a branch church of Rühlow . Around the middle of the 18th century, craftsmen built a simple hall church, whose weather vane indicates the year 1769. The structure was renovated from 2002 to 2009 for around 198,000 euros. The Warlin parish then suggested that the building be used as a motorway church due to its proximity to federal motorway 20 . However, the local council contradicted this.

Building description

The structure was essentially built from mixed masonry. Reddish bricks were used for renovation and repair work . Remnants of plaster are preserved in particular on the northeast corner of the building. Remains of a square plaster can be seen at the corners. The choir is straight and has not moved in. There are two large arched windows on the east side.

This is followed by the nave . There are also two large arched windows on its north side, as well as on the south side. In addition, there is a small arched portal in the middle. Significant repair work can be seen in the area around this portal. There was probably a vestibule here at an earlier time. Access to the building is via a portal from the west side; it is also bordered with reddish brick. The ship carries a simple gable roof , the westward hipped is. At the transition from the walls to the roof is a circumferential haunch .

In the west the boarded church tower rises from the roof . It has a square floor plan and a rectangular opening on its north and south sides. Above is an eight-fold kinked spire , which ends with a tower ball and a weather vane with the year 1769.

Furnishing

The wooden church furnishings are described in the Dehio manual as "simple". It dates from the time the church was built, including the pulpit altar and a hexagonal fifth . A plaque commemorates those who died in the wars of liberation . In the gallery is an organ that Wilhelm Sauer created in 1855. The building has a flat beamed ceiling inside. A memorial in front of the churchyard commemorates those who died in the world wars.
