Glienke is a district of the city of Friedland in the Mecklenburg Lake District in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

The place is about ten kilometers east of Neubrandenburg on the southwest slope of a small side valley of the Datze , which connects Neubrandenburg with Friedland in an glacial valley .

history

Slavic rampart Glienke in Mecklenburg around 900

In 1298 the place, laid out as an anger village, appears for the first time in a document. The name is of Slavic origin and is derived from glina = clay . South of Glienke, the remains of a Slavic castle rampart were excavated during the construction of the motorway, which is dated around the 10th century.

The Glienker Church in its current form was built in 1769 and was extensively renovated in 2003.

As part of the village renewal program, many older houses were renovated, but some new homes were also built. The former blacksmith's shop was converted into a community center in 1996. In addition to the community office, there is an event room and a youth club here.

The population in town grew by over ten percent in 2007.

Due to the area change agreement between the city of Friedland and the municipality of Glienke of December 12, 2013, Glienke was incorporated into Friedland on May 25, 2014.

Attractions

Church in Glienke

The village church Glienke is a massive baroque plastered building with a square wooden tower. It is equipped with a baroque pulpit altar with cranked pilasters from the second half of the 18th century and a brass baptismal bowl from 1661.

Economy and Infrastructure

Due to its convenient location, Glienke has meanwhile become a purely residential community where many commuters live.

Transport links

The connection to the road network can be described as very cheap, because at Glienke the new federal highway 20 crosses the federal highway 197 ( clover leaf cross ), which leads from Neubrandenburg to Anklam . Local public transport operates bus connections to Neubrandenburg and Friedland.
