history

Upper part of the church tower

Like the neighboring towns of Kröbeln , Oschätze and Prieschka, Kosilenzien was originally incorporated into Würdenhain . Like Kosilenzien, these places belonged to the Mühlberg rule since the 15th century . Finally, like Kröbeln, Kosilenzien was cleared out from Würdenhain and both communities became an independent parish.

Shortly after the Reformation , the first church was built in the village in 1597. On April 16, 1812, a major fire destroyed several homesteads and the school as well as the old church. A subsequent new building collapsed in 1816, still unfinished. In 1817 the construction of today's church finally began. In 1870 two bells were placed in the church tower. The smaller of these two bells, however, had to be given for purposes of war during the First World War in 1918. In 1921, shortly after the war, a new small bell was hung. However, in the course of the Second World War in 1942, part of the bell had to be released again for war purposes.

A restoration of the interior of the church took place in 1955. In addition, a new large bell could be hung again the following year.

The Kröbeln parish existed until the fall of the Wall . The Lutheran parish Kosilenzien now belongs to the parish area Wahrenbrück in the parish of Bad Liebenwerda the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Architecture and equipment (selection)

The church in Kosilenzien is a plastered hall building from 1817 with bevelled corners on the east side. In the west of the nave there is a square tower that merges into an octagonal shape with a tail hood , lantern and weather vane.

The interior of the church is characterized by a flat ceiling and a horseshoe gallery. The church has a simple pulpit altar from the period of construction. An existing sandstone christening probably also dates from the construction period.

Today's organ in Kosilenzien has a pneumatic cone chest , a manual and seven stops . This was created by the Liebenwerda organ builder Arno Voigt (op. 19).
