Liebätz village church

The Evangelical Village Church of Liebätz is a hall church in Liebätz , a district of the Nuthe-Urstromtal community in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg .

history

The first sacred building was built in 1598, but was completely destroyed in the Thirty Years' War in 1637 . In 1655 the parish rebuilt the building . In the 18th century it was given two galleries , at the same time the congregation moved the pulpit from its side position as a pulpit altar in the middle of the choir . Towards the end of the 18th century, however, it had become so dilapidated that craftsmen first had to support the church tower and finally dismantled the entire structure. A new building was built in 1856 and is still there in the 21st century. During the First World War , the parish had to give one of the two bells as a metal donation from the German people . In the course of the fighting in the Second World War , the structure - including the organ and the remaining bell - was destroyed by artillery fire and rebuilt by the residents after the end of the war. Another church consecration took place in 1952. In 2002 the parish was able to inaugurate a newly cast bell.

The building was built in neo -Gothic style from reddish brick . The north and south sides of the nave are strictly structured: three high lancet windows , which are evenly distributed on the wall, are grouped around a single stepped buttress , which emphasizes the shape of the building. The corners of the building are highlighted with pilaster strips . On the west side, the building can be entered through an ogival, double-stepped portal. On the upper floor of the west wall there are two slender lancet windows on the outside, which were arranged in the middle around a round window. In the pediment two are sound arcades recognizable. For cost reasons, the parish had decided not to have a tower in the new building and instead built a small roof tower with a cross above the western gable. The drafted choir, however, was given a five-eighth closing. There are three smaller lancet windows built in, which are flanked by two-tiered buttresses. Two openings are also built into the gable, which take up the shape of the sound arcades on the opposite side. A frieze decorates the transition to the gable roof .

Furnishing

The church furnishings are from 1952. The harmonium was built by the Lindholm company with two manuals and a pedal . In the gable tower hangs a bell that was severely damaged in World War II and re-cast in 2002.
