Massow village church
The village church is a listed church building in Massow , a district of the municipality of Eldetal in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). Together with four other churches, it belongs to the parish of Massow in the Neustrelitz Propstei of the Evangelical Lutheran Church District Mecklenburg of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .
History and architecture
The building was built in 1842 in the neo-Romanesque style from field and brick. The walls are structured by round-arched brick- framed windows with colored lead glazing and a circumferential toothed frieze at the height of the eaves . The building forms a polygonal closed rectangle, the square tower top was built in brick. It is structured by sound openings and its pyramid roof is crowned with a cross.
Furnishing
- The sandstone baptism is a work from the 16th century. The eight-sided basin is decorated with New Testament relief scenes. It shows portraits of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon and two coats of arms of those of Grambow-Priegnitz and von der Lühe .
- The organ with four stops on one manual and without a pedal was built in 1893 by Friedrich Hermann Lütkemüller .
- The carved figures from the second half of the 16th century depict the Madonna , St. Christopher and three male saints.
- The pulpit and the altar are combined into one body.
- The candlesticks are from 1596 and 1843
- The bell was cast by Christian Heinze from Berlin in 1722. It bears both the Lücke and the Flotow coat of arms.
graveyard
The churchyard is surrounded by a dry stone wall. Among other things, there are 24 tombstones of those from Lücken on it.
