Nitschareuth village church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church Nitschareuth is located in the district Nitschareuth of the municipality of Langenwetzendorf in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

history

The year of construction of the original church is unknown. In 1538 a church "zu Nitzitzenreuth" was first mentioned in a document. The foundation walls for the current branch church were laid in 1658, 10 years after the end of the Thirty Years' War . The nave and the choir merge seamlessly and are spanned by a beamed ceiling. The small church tower with slated octagonal storey , tail dome, lantern and dome is saddled up as a roof turret.

To the church itself

One door each on the south side and in the western half-timbered porch lead into the nave and onto the galleries . The parapets of the galleries are decorated with Christian paintings.

The organ , baptism and altar are simple in shape. Color schemes cheered this up. The wooden altar, however, has an impressive crucifix .

The baroque pulpit is a work of art and stands on the south side of the ship. It comes from the castle church in Rothenthal near Greiz and was given to the village in 1733 after it was abolished.

The churchyard continues to be used. There is also a grave on it with three Wehrmacht soldiers who were shot on April 17, 1945 when the US Army entered the Nitschareuther corridor.
