History, building description and equipment

The church of the parish of Rossow as seen from the northeast.

The early Gothic stone church from the 13th century, which has changed many times over the years , was built from neatly layered granite blocks. Around 1900 a retracted rectangular choir made of field stones with a brick gable was added to the east side . Above the nave-wide church tower on the west side, with a square half-timbered tower from 1837, rises a much smaller, octagonal upper floor and a pointed helmet . The tower, which was renewed and copper-covered in 1990/91, was built at the end of the 13th century, as was the pointed arched step entrance portal on the west side. The windows in the nave were changed in baroque style and show flasks . Some pointed arch windows in the south side were walled up and the original granite portals in the north and south were demolished and added. The choir has a tooth cut in the eaves area and stepped segment arch windows. In the churchyard, surrounded by a stone wall, there are two war memorials with the names of the victims of both world wars from Rossow.

The interior of the church is spanned by a high wooden beam ceiling with ornamental paintings from the second half of the 19th century. The altarpiece, which dates from the first half of the 18th century, is lavishly designed and was brightly repainted during the restoration of the church in 1994 after the original paint was found. Between four Corinthian columns there is a richly decorated pulpit, which was added later in the 19th century, with free figures on the side. The Lord's Supper and angel figures are attached to the parapet. On the north wall of the nave is the original carved crucifixion group, replaced by the pulpit. In 1994, a free-standing winter church made of glass and steel was integrated into the interior of the church and the furnishings were renewed, which gives the interior of the church a more modern look due to the lack of original seating.

The organ, with a Neo-Renaissance prospectus, was built in 1888 by Barnim Grüneberg from Stettin. The first of the two bells in the church was cast in 1925 by Carl Voss from Stettin, while the second bell was made in 1993 by A. Bachert from Heilbronn.
