Architecture and history

Three window group, east wall

The village church Schlabendorf am See was built around the year 1386 according to the Brandenburg State Office for Monument Preservation and State Archaeological Museum (BLDAM) . The building is an elongated, rectangular hall with irregular field stone masonry . The square west tower with buttresses was added later in 1480. The neo-Gothic patron's box made of brick on the northeast corner was added in the third quarter of the 19th century. In 1855 the church was rebuilt, which was badly damaged in a fire in 1961. After the fire, the church was restored and extensively renovated after the fall of the Wall .

Of the two Gothic portals , the western one is three-tiered and the eastern two-tiered. The eastern one also has a tracery crown over the door. In the east wall there is an ogival three-window group from the late 15th century; the tracery carvings on the east gable also date from the same period. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Schlabendorf village church was remodeled, with the windows being enlarged with flat arches. There is another pointed arch portal in the north wall of the church tower. The bell storey was only added to the tower at a later date, probably in the late 15th century. This has two-part sound openings on three sides and three-part sound openings on the north .

Portal with monument to the fallen, north wall

On the outer east wall, two gravestones attached in 1902 commemorate a Friedrich Gottlob von Zabeltitz († 1718) and an Ernst Ehrenreich von Kitzing († 1720). On the north wall, next to the portal, there is a memorial for the soldiers of Schlabendorf in the First World War from 1925. Inside, the Schlabendorf village church has a flat plastered ceiling and a shortened horseshoe gallery from the 18th century. In the 1950s the interior of the church was repaired and the box was bricked up.

Furnishing

The Schlabendorf village church has a simple pulpit altar from the 18th or 19th century. The aedicule has a split gable with a representation of the radiant sun, the round pulpit stands on so-called lugs . In front of the altar rise is a parish chair with bars. The large crucifix in the interior of the church dates from the 15th century and is made of wood, and an accompanying carved figure shows the mourning Mary .
