Warnkenhagen village church

The Protestant village church Warnkenhagen is a Gothic brick church in the municipality of Warnkenhagen in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It belongs to the parish Thürkow-Warnkenhagen in the Rostock provost in the Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Northern Church) .

History and architecture

The Warnkenhagen village church is a stately brick building consisting of a retracted choir , the nave and the west tower. All components are built on a rectangular floor plan. The choir, to which a domed sacristy adjoins on the north side, was built around 1280; the simple ship was built at the beginning of the 14th century and the west tower was not built until the 15th century. The choir is closed with cross vaults in two bays ; the nave has a flat roof, but according to the evidence of the shield arches and wall templates, it was planned to have a vault in two yokes.

The west tower is characterized by a rich panel structure and an accentuated floor structure and closes with a short hipped roof . The ship is accessed through two stately stepped portals; There is another large step portal in the tower. The choir and nave are illuminated by simple two-part pointed arch windows .

Furnishing

An elegantly proportioned altarpiece with a high-quality painting of the Resurrection of Christ , column architecture and figurative-plastic crown from 1784 forms the main part of the furnishings. The pulpit was donated by Friedrich Franz I in 1788 and has a round arch architecture with sculptures on the basket and a flat sound cover, which stylistically suggests a much earlier date of origin. Fifteen other figures from an older altarpiece from the 18th century are distributed across the choir, nave and tower hall.

Of the liturgical furnishings, a silver-gilt chalice from 1716 should be mentioned. Two brass candlesticks date from the 18th century. A wooden epitaph by M. Schulz († 1667) and a commemorative plaque for E. Kamptz († 1673) should be mentioned. The organ is a work by Friedrich Albert Mehmel from the year of his death in 1888 with nine stops on a manual and pedal. It was completed by Friedrich Friese III . A bell from 1875 was cast by H. Collier in Berlin and is tuned to the tone f 1 +7. There is a smaller bell in the inaccessible roof turret.
