history
The first documentary mention took place in 1350. It was wine growers from the Saalfeld Benedictine monastery who settled the village. In 1588, a landslide spoiled wine growing. Nevertheless, 49 inhabitants settled in 1620 and 66 inhabitants in 1673. They lived on land and forest use.
The hamlet received mail since 1861. In 1928 water and electricity came to the hamlet. As early as 1824 the observation tower was built on the 481 meter high Kulm by the Thuringian Forest Association. In 1938 the Naturschutzbund built the refuge and the inn on the mountain.
On April 9, 1994 it was incorporated into Unterwellenborn.
