From 1967 to 1981 she was married to the painter Jürgen Runge ; from 1970 to 1975 the couple lived temporarily in Ibiza . The “White House” in Cismar

Doris Runge has mainly emerged as the author of poems and literary texts on Thomas Mann ; Paul Celan and the early Hans Magnus Enzensberger are cited by critics as role models for their sparse, concise poetry . What is particularly striking about Runge's poems without punctuation is the frequent use of the stylistic device Apokoinu , through which the individual statement takes on an ambiguous character and can be read in different ways.
