Doug Ashford

Doug Ashford (* 1958 in Rabat ) is a Moroccan -American painter , installation artist and author who lives in New York City .

life and work

Doug Ashford has taught design, theory, sculpture and public art at Cooper Union in New York City since 1989 . As a member of Group Material , he participated in more than 40 projects between 1980 and 1996. As an independent artist, he increasingly devoted himself to painting, which is presented in the context of installations.

Ashford was a participant in the Sharjah Biennale in 2011, in dOCUMENTA (13) in 2012 and in the Gwangju Biennale in 2016 . In 2013 he exhibited at the Henie Onstad Center in Norway and that same year had a solo exhibition at the Grazer Kunstverein at the Styrian Autumn .
