Dovhe (Ukrainian Довге ; Russian Долгое / Dolgoje , Slovak Dovhe or older Dolhé , Hungarian Dolha ) is a village in the Raion Irshava in the Zakarpattia Oblast in western Ukraine , southeast of Mukachevo . In 2004 there were around 6,800 inhabitants.
Geographical location
In Dowhe, which is 172 m above sea level on the banks of the Borschawa , the territorial road T – 07–19 meets the T – 07–12 .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing as Nagh Dolha in 1383 and was then part of Bereg County . About 80 years later in 1454 it belonged to Máramaros County . For centuries it was owned by the family Dolhay while the Kuruzzenaufstände also fought Francis II. Rákóczi here against the imperial troops. In his honor a memorial was erected in the village in 1902.
Until 1919 the place belonged to the Empire Austria-Hungary or Hungary , after that it was part of the Carpathian-Ukraine of Czechoslovakia . With the annexation he came back to Hungary in 1939–1945, from 1945 the place is part of the Soviet Union and since 1991 part of the Ukraine.
In 1971 the place was granted the status of an urban-type settlement, but this was revoked on November 29, 1994 and Dowhe downgraded to a village.
Worth seeing
- There is a Telekis castle from the 17th century in the village .
- The 15th century church was restored in 2000.
