Dracontomelon (Vietnamese: Chi Sấu) is a genus of plants from the sumac family(Anacardiaceae).
features
Dracontomelon are large, 20 to over 50 meters high, and partly by buttresses supported, evergreen arranged trees with alternate, odd pinnate leaves.
The whole-margined leaflets, which are divided into a short petiole and a leaf blade, are more or less opposite or alternate.
Axillary to terminal panicles are formed. The five-fold and bisexual flowers are white, greenish or yellow. There are ten stamens. There is a five-chambered, upper ovary with five styluses or five individual, partly overgrown or close-fitting pistils , each with a stylus. There may be a discus .
The fruits are spherical or ovate to ellipsoidal drupes . The exocarp (outer epidermis ) is orange or brown to black, the mesocarp fleshy, the endocarp (inner epidermis) woody with 5 apical germ caps (operculum). The round to ellipsoidal and more or less sculpted, pitted stone core contains one to two or more seeds .

The genus is common from India to Myanmar , Indochina , tropical China , Malesia and Fiji .
use
The fruits are edible, some species produce an appealingly colored, valuable wood.

- Dracontomelon duperreanum Pierre (syn. Dracontomelon sinense Stapf ): It occurs originally in Vietnam and in Guangdong, Guangxi and in southeastern Yunnan.

- Dracontomelon macrocarpum H.L.Li : It occurs in southern Yunnan.
