The Dranse d'Abondance is a mountain river in France that runs in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It is hydrographically classified as the upper reaches of the 49.1 km long Dranse and rises in the municipality of Châtel , near the Col de Bassachaux , near the border with Switzerland . The river generally drains to the northwest. After a distance of around 39 kilometers, the Dranse de Morzine joins the municipality of La Forclaz from the left . From here on, the river is called Dranse (no name added) and flows into Lake Geneva after about 10 km .
