Three fathers too many (original title: Mon père, ma mère, mes frères et mes soeurs ) is a French - Spanish comedy film with Victoria Abril from 1999.

action

The attractive Anne is in her mid-30s, a successful biologist and single mother in Paris . Their three children Julien, Clementine and Victor are from three different men and have never seen their respective father. For his birthday, her youngest son Victor wishes to finally get to know his father. To this end, his grandmother ensures that Anne and her children as well as the three fathers go on vacation to the same hotel in Mexico by winning a competition. Anne, who could never bring herself to pour the fathers of her children pure wine for her offspring, has no idea what lies ahead when she arrives in Mexico with her offspring and her best friend Jeanne.

Victor quickly befriends a boy his age, whose father, Jean-Louis, is Clementine's father. Jean-Louis was once Anne's professor. They had a brief liaison and lost sight of each other when Jean-Louis accepted a position at another university and married another woman. While Anne recognizes Jean-Louis immediately, the latter can no longer remember her. When Clementine learns that Jean-Louis is her father, she really wants to get to know him better. At the first opportunity to spend time with him, she befriends him immediately and discovers similarities such as a preference for spicy foods.

Meanwhile, Anne's eldest son Julien is hooking up with pretty Margot, who had come with her ill-tempered godmother Martine and her friends. Shortly afterwards, Martine's husband Guy arrives in a helicopter. It turns out that Guy is Julien's father. But unlike Clementine, Julien doesn't want to get to know his father. Guy was once a talented musician, but he now makes a living as a used car dealer, for which Julien despises him. Victor, on the other hand, is sad that he still has not met his father. During a dispute with his siblings and his mother, they learn that the meeting with the respective fathers was planned by him and Anne's mother. Anne then speaks to Guy, who is still in love with her after all these years. However, she does not tell him that Julien is his son. In addition, she doesn't want to get involved with him again, as she fell in love with a man named Gaspard before the vacation. The following evening, Guy and Julien meet by chance on the beach. They talk and Julien realizes that his father is way more personable than he thought.

After Victor's father Vincent and his girlfriend have finally arrived on a sailing boat, Anne tries to talk to him. Victor is also there when Anne asks Vincent if he ever wanted to have children. When Vincent confesses that he has never had an interest in his own children, Victor is sad again. Since his mother, Guy, Jean-Louis and Vincent, does not want to tell the truth, he puts on a small music show in the hotel where all songs are about families and single mothers. Anne, too, has to go on stage and, embarrassed, recite a song of the same kind. In the toilet, Anne and her children then get into an argument, not knowing that the microphone in Victor's jacket pocket is still switched on, so that all hotel guests and the fathers and their respective wives learn the truth. When Anne returns to the room with her children, Guy's wife Martine verbally attacks her and demands a paternity test. Vincent also loses his composure. He doesn't want a son and leaves the room angry.

The next morning Victor wants to speak to his father, but the latter rejects him again. Disappointed, Victor runs away and goes alone into the Mexican jungle. There he falls from a rock, injures his leg and is threatened by a poisonous snake. Vincent also takes part in the following search operation, who finally finds Victor, apologizes for his behavior and brings his son back to the hotel. Everyone is now relieved and happy, Anne even more so when Gaspard arrives too. While Anne's best friend Jeanne wants to stay in Mexico because she has fallen in love with a Mexican, Anne and her children travel home on a ship. Guy and Jean-Louis also leave. Vincent sails after them and lets Victor take the helm on his boat.
