Drethem is a district of the municipality of Neu Darchau in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony . The village is located southeast of the core area of Neu Darchau and directly on the west bank of the Elbe .
history
On July 1, 1972, Drethem was incorporated into the community of Neu Darchau.
Culture and sights
church
The Protestant church is a hall building of brick , which dates from the 18th century. The north side contains half-timbering and carries a roof turret . The furnishing with the pulpit altar dates from the time the church was built.
Observation tower

The Kniepenberg observation tower is a 17 m high wooden tower built in 2010 on the 86 m high Kniepenberg, southeast of Drethem . The tower is located in the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve between Drethem and Hitzacker, not far from the Elbe Cycle Path and the Klötzie-Stieg hiking path . From its 16 m high viewing platform you have a good panoramic view of the Elbe Valley and the Drawehn ridge .
