Dreussen is part of the agglomeration of Zschöpel , a district of the municipality of Ponitz in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

location

Due to its location in the Pleiße valley south of the old Sorbian town center of Zschöpel on an elevation of about 240 meters above sea level, Dreussen is known as the lower village of Zschöpels. His corridor is also located in the Altenburg loess hill country.

history

The village was first mentioned on May 6, 1296. It is a Sorbian foundation and is derived from Druzk or Druznik , which means something like comrade or comrade. Dreussen owned its own inn from 1790, which also served as a forge. Extensions were built around 1860. On April 18, 1883, however, the buildings burned down due to arson. In the same year, the Dreußen inn, which was demolished in 1999, was built. The inn was given up in the 1960s, the smithy in 1958. The hall of the inn was used by the Horstmann stocking factory from Meerane until 1954, then by the LPG Type III Mitschurin Ponitz until 1971 . From 1978 to 1992 the wholesale company (GHG) Household Goods Gera, Zschöpel part of the business , was housed in it.

Dreussen belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions during its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. Dreussen belonged to the community of Zschöpel . After the administrative reform in the Duchy, Dreussen belonged to the Eastern District (until 1900) and to the Ronneburg District Office (from 1900). From 1918 the village belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 Dreussen came to the Altenburg district .

With the incorporation of Zschöpel to Ponitz, Dreussen became a district of Ponitz on July 1, 1950. During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Dreußen came as the district of Ponitz with the county Schmölln to the district of Leipzig , since 1990 as a county belonged to Schmölln Thuringia and the Thuringian district reform in 1994 opened Altenburger in the district of the country.
