Andrew "Drew" Courtney (born February 3, 1990 in Clifton , Virginia ) is an American tennis player .
Career
Drew Courtney studied at the University of Virginia and also played college tennis there . In 2010 he won the 2010 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships in doubles.
In his playing days, Courtney played only a few professional tournaments. In 2009 at the Challenger in Charlottesville , he was in the peloton for the first time in doubles. In 2010 he got a wildcard in doubles in Washington and at the US Open . In his debut on the ATP World Tour and in Grand Slams , he lost with his partner Michael Shabaz at the start.
2012 was the only year in which he was able to place in the world rankings . He won two tournaments on the ITF Future Tour in doubles. Then came his biggest career success. In Washington , Courtney reached the semifinals with Steve Johnson . A little later he reached two semifinals with Purav Raja at the Challengers in Istanbul and Izmir , which made him 212th in the world rankings by the end of the year. After his only year as a professional, he did not play any other tournaments. In the individual, he never managed to place in the ranking list.
