The Dumaresq River is a river in eastern Australia and forms part of the border between the states of New South Wales and Queensland .

The Dumaresq River flows into the Macintyre River at Boggabilla , a suburb of Goondiwindi . All of these rivers are part of the Border Rivers .
Yelarbon , Bonshaw, and Texas are the major cities on the river. The Bruxner Highway crosses the Dumaresq River south of the city of Texas.
The river valley has vineyards and a number of good fishing spots. The farmers in the valley once supplied the tobacco industry with plants.

Its main tributary is the Severn River .
history
The river is of great importance to the Bigambul , the first Aboriginal tribe to inhabit the area. The Kamilaroi , another indigenous tribe, also have strong ties to this river.
Surname
The river was named by the botanist Allan Cunningham in 1827 after Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Dumaresq , Governor Darling's brother-in-law and assistant.
