The Dumlong is a mountain in Bangladesh on the border with India .

location

The summit of the mountain is located in southeast Bangladesh in the Upazila Belaichori in the south of the Rangamati district , which belongs to the Chittagong Hill Tracts of the Chittagong Division, in the Mizo Hills , a range of hills that forms a southern foothill of the Himalayas , just under a kilometer west of the border with India . The flanks of the mountain extend into the Lawngtlai district in the Indian state of Mizoram .

height

On an excursion by the Nature Adventure Club of Bangladesh in 2011, four young people determined the height of the Dumlong to be 3314 feet (1010 meters) using GPS. They said they found the second highest mountain in Bangladesh after the Mowdok Mual . During another expedition several months later, the height was measured at 3312 feet, which also results in 1010 meters rounded. ACME Mapper states the height of the mountain as 997 meters.

It wasn't until 2014 that it turned out that the Zow Tlang is still slightly higher than the Dumlong. According to the current state of knowledge (2019), the Dumlong is the highest elevation in the Rangamati district and still the third highest elevation in Bangladesh , after Mowdok Mual (1045 meters) located about 28 kilometers to the south and Zow Tlang (999 meters) about 41 kilometers to the south in front of Keokradong (980 meters), about 13 kilometers southwest , which was previously considered the highest mountain in Bangladesh.

About three kilometers south of the Dumlong is the Maithai Jama Haphong ( 966  m ) and about seven kilometers south of the Mukhra Thuthai Haphong ( 954  m ), both of which are also among the ten highest peaks in Bangladesh.
