Datta (also in the Anglicized spellings Dutta and Dutt / Datt ) is an Indian family name.
Bengali duttas ( দত্ত , datta) belong to the Kayastha clan. Some are also Bengali Vaid Brahmins and generally use compound surnames like Duttagupta or Duttasharma , but also just Dutta .
