The 2016/17 season of the Erste Bank Young Stars League (EBYSL for short) is the fifth edition of the highest junior league in Austrian ice hockey, which also - as the junior league of the supranational Erste Bank ice hockey league - includes teams from Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The season starts on September 4th.
The league was increased to 18 teams from 5 nations this season. The LLZ Steiermark Süd / Graz 99ers (AUT), HD mladi Jesenice (SLO) and HK Slavija Ljubljana (SLO) pulled up their teams from the EBJL. HK Triglav Kranj (SLO), who was last active in EBJL in 2014/15, will be there again. KMH Budapest (HUN) is consistently expanding the junior division. They now have a team not only in the EBJL, but also in the EBYSL.
The KAC team, which will switch to the newly founded Alps Hockey League , must be reported as a departure .
