Due to the increased focus of the ÖEHV on the Erste Bank Juniors League and the Alps Hockey League , the game operations of the U20 junior championship were reformed for the 2019/20 season.

The EBYSL competition and thus the Austrian U20 state championship will be held exclusively with teams from Austria that play in a group of 6 teams. The basic round is played with a 2.5 round trip round in the group. There are a total of 25 games per team in the regular season.

In parallel to the EBYSL, the U20 International Tournament Championship will be played, which will be held in the form of several tournaments with international teams and a total of 12 teams. The tables of this international championship (ITC) are kept separately for Austrian and international teams.
