The ESC Holzkirchen is an ice hockey club from the Upper Bavarian Holzkirchen in the district of Miesbach , which is in the tradition of the EHC Holzkirchen and EC Holzkirchen , which once took part in the second highest division . The club's greatest successes were winning the league cup in 1967 and the German youth championship in 1971.

history

The first ice hockey game took place on December 26, 1933 at Herdergarten in Holzkirchen. For the first time in the higher-class league area, the team of TSV Holzkirchen appeared in the 1961/62 season in the then third-class group league , which was promoted in the following season . In the second-rate league 1963/64 the team went under the name EHC Holzkirchen until the league season 1966/67 , in which the team won the German league cup. In the league season 1967/68 , the team played under the name TuS Holzkirchen , with the sporting descent into the regional league after the season. After the direct return to the league in 1969/70 , the name of the team changed again, which now took up the name EC Holzkirchen , but was again relegated to the regional league. Although actually relegated from the regional league, the team was also able to take part in the 1971/72 season by expanding the regional league . Even after the 1972/73 season , the league could be held this way. When the 2. Bundesliga was introduced for the 1973/74 season , the EC team remained in the third-class league , from which the team voluntarily relegated to the now more fourth-class regional league 1974/75 . After the 1976/77 season , the EC team was relegated to the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association .
