The ESC 2018 - Decision Show was the Swiss preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon ( Portugal ). The band ZiBBZ won the preliminary round with their song Stones . In the Song Contest, however, they were eliminated in the first semifinals on May 8, 2018.

format

concept

On July 13, 2017, SRG SSR presented a new preliminary decision concept. In the run-up there was a workshop with Martin Österdahl and Christer Björkman , the producers of the Swedish preliminary round Melodifestivalen . On the basis of this workshop, SRG SSR developed its new preliminary decision concept.

From September 1 to September 22, 2017, 8:00 a.m., composers had the opportunity to submit a contribution to Swiss television SRG SSR. In addition to Swiss citizens and those who have a place of residence in Switzerland, international composers were also allowed to submit their contributions. Contributions from Swiss citizens will be given preference in the pre-selection. A 20-member independent jury selected six songs from all entries. This jury consisted of music and media professionals, ESC fans and television viewers. A suitable interpreter for the six songs was then sought.

The six artists ultimately chosen then appeared with their songs on February 4, 2018 in a live broadcast. 50% of the entry was selected by tele-voting and 50% by an international jury of experts. The composition of the jury was announced after the broadcast.

A total of 670 entries were submitted, more than in previous years.

final

On January 9, 2018, the performers and their songs were presented.
