The EV Mittenwald is an ice hockey team from Mittenwald in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , formerly of the second tier - the league - took part. The exact club name is Eislaufverein Mittenwald .
history
The club, founded in 1963 as SC Garmisch-Partenkirchen , originally came from Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where they played until the ice rink in Mittenwald was built. The founding members include: Walter Fichtl, Arthur Haas, Günter Lorber, Werner Urban, Alois Wurmer, Lothar Warnke, Günther Zirngibl, Alois Struss, Mayer Carly and Schandl Franz.
For the first time in higher-class league games, the club's senior team took part in the third-class regional league in the 1965/66 season. In the 1967/68 season , the team was promoted to the second-rate league 1968/69 , which could not be kept sporty.
In the summer of 1969, the club was called EV Mittenwald and took part in the 1969/70 season again in the regional league , where the immediate promotion to the league succeeded.
After the 1972/73 season , the club withdrew the team that was athletically qualified for the ice hockey league 1973/74 and continued playing in the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association .
After the senior team took part in the fourth-class Regionalliga Süd again in the 1978/79 and 1979/80 seasons, the Regionalliga Süd succeeded in participating again until the sporting relegation after the 1985/86 season . In the 1990/91 season they were able to celebrate not only 1st place in the Landesliga Süd but also the Bavarian State League Championship .
In the 2007/08 season, the senior team in the - sixth class - Bavarian regional league - reached the runner-up in the group south behind the - without promotion - SC Gaißach , which was enough for promotion to the - fifth class - Bavarian regional league. After the 2008/09 season, the team rose again from the Bavarian district league.

Arena Mittenwald
EV Mittenwald plays its games in the ECS-Arena Mittenwald. This was built in 1968 as an open artificial ice stadium and covered in 2006. In 2004 a private investor took over the stadium from the Mittenwald community.
