The plain on the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River ( 长江 中下游 平原 , Cháng Jiāng Zhōng Xiàyóu Píngyuán ) consists of several larger and smaller plains, which are located along the Yangtze River from its Three Gorges to the east.

The northern part of the plain is south of the Huaiyang Hill Country and Huanghuai Plain , the southern part is north of the Jiangnan Hill Country and the Zhejiang-Fujian Hill Country . It consists of alluvial areas of the Yangtze and its tributaries. It has an area of ​​approximately 200,000 square kilometers.

The plain stretches across several provinces: the east of Hubei Province , north Hunan , south Anhui , north Jiangxi , north Zhejiang , much of Jiangsu and the city of Shanghai . It is the largest of the three great Chinese plains.
