Eberhard Alexander-Burgh (born December 22, 1929 in Berlin ; † October 21, 2004 there ) was a German writer and author of books for young people .

Life

Eberhard Alexander-Burgh first completed an apprenticeship as a banker and then studied German. Since 1954 he worked as a freelance writer. The focus of his work was on youth literature . Alexander-Burgh wrote 25 books and over 1500 radio programs for children, youth, school radio and television programs (including numerous stories for the West German edition of the Sandman ). In addition, he wrote the templates for more than 90 sound carriers. While most authors write their books first and, if they are commercially successful, edit them for radio, television and sound carriers, Alexander-Burgh went the opposite way: first he wrote his stories for radio and television. Some of them were then adapted into books. Alexander-Burgh is the first media author for children's and youth literature in Germany. In addition, from 1973 onwards, as a member of the New Society for Literature (NGL), he was elected delegate to several of the working and project groups.

He achieved great popularity with Die Hexe Schrumpeldei from the crooked house at Schwarzer-Peter-Gasse 13 and the castle ghost Hui Buh , which was the “only officially approved ghost” to the lord of Burgeck, King Julius 111. , with advice and (un- ) Deed stands by. Both series were great successes both as radio plays and as books; Hui Buh was released in 2006 under the title Hui Buh - Das Schlossgespenst . Michael Herbig took on the title role .

Alexander-Burgh was awarded several gold records for his radio plays and was also the first author of young books to receive this award in platinum. For his special services he was honored with the citizen medal of Berlin-Wilmersdorf.

Eberhard Alexander-Burgh died on October 21, 2004 after a long illness in Berlin. He bequeathed the majority of his inheritance to the Berlin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf to support projects for children and young people. On December 1st, 2009 one of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorfer city libraries was named after him.
