Hans Möller (born November 18, 1914 in Bremen ; † October 11, 2001 near Neustadt in Holstein ) was a German painter , graphic artist and illustrator . Among his best known works include his drawings for movie posters of the post-war period as well as designs for front pages of booklet novels and radio plays - Cover .

Career

Hans Möller studied painting and graphics at the University of the Arts in Bremen from 1931 to 1933 . In addition, he did an apprenticeship at a painting company for painting executions and completed training in theater and decorative painting .

After Möller was accepted into the military music service in 1936 , he got a job as a draftsman for the propaganda press in the Wehrmacht Air Force , which he held until the end of the Second World War.

After the war he carried out decorative paintings for ballet and theater revues in Hamburg. He was discovered as a draftsman for the film industry. From 1946 to 1963 he designed the film posters for Europa-Filmverleih, DEFA and Rank-Film . He was also an advertising artist for the automobile manufacturer Opel .

Mid-1960s moved Möller his professional focus on the design of Heftroman - and radio play - Cover . Until 1980 he illustrated the science fiction series Rex Corda and Utopia science fiction . He did the cover illustrations for radio plays mainly for the labels Polygram and Europa . The images for well-known productions such as Commander Perkins , Die Hexe Schrumpeldei and Hui Buh (also the book covers) were created. Private

Hans Möller was married twice. He separated from his first wife in 1962/63. With her he had a son. When he fell ill with polio in 1960, Möller met his second wife, who was his physiotherapist. They married in 1964. The connection resulted in another son (Kay, * 1965). From 1998 Möller increasingly lost his eyesight and began to write his autobiography.

Hans Möller died on October 11, 2001 at the age of 86 in his house on the Bay of Lübeck near Neustadt in Holstein.
