Life

Ruedorffer's origins have not been passed down. He completed a degree in philosophy and entered the Benedictine monastery of St. Peter in Salzburg in September 1721 . He was ordained a priest there in 1724 and was then appointed theology repetitor at the monastery. In 1727 he came to the St. Georgen Abbey as a professor of theology , but returned to Salzburg in 1729 and in 1730 accepted the position of professor of philosophy at the University of Salzburg . He gave up this teaching post after two years.

Ruedorffer received a professorship in theology at the University of Salzburg in 1739. In the academic year 1739/1740 he held the office of dean . However, he became involved in a violent dispute about the veneration of saints, which is why the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg Leopold Anton von Firmian expelled him from Salzburg in 1741 . In 1752 he was appointed superior of Maria Plain near Salzburg. He remained in this office until his death.
