Eberhard Simons

Eberhard Simons (born July 9, 1937 in Chemnitz ; † April 8, 2005 in Munich ) was a German philosopher and adjunct professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

After graduating from high school, Simons studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Innsbruck (at the Canisianum ), Freiburg and Munich . With work on Karl Rahner's philosophy of religion , he received his doctorate in 1965. Dr. theol. and 1967 in philosophy. After his habilitation on Ernst Bloch's thinking in 1978, teaching activities followed, including in Aachen and Münster . From 1980 he taught in Munich, where he was appointed adjunct professor in 1987.

Act

According to his concept of a "liberal-dramatic philosophizing", the focus of his work was on the dialogue with his students. His lectures in Munich, in the sense of a general study, were also very popular with non-specialists. He brought his understanding of Dionysian thinking closer to his listeners against the background of the works of such diverse philosophers as Plato , Aristotle , Hegel , Nietzsche , Heidegger and Foucault .

Simons was also in dialogue with Karl Rahner , Heinrich Fries and Hermann Krings . Simons was a co-founder and member of the scientific advisory board of the Nietzsche Forum Munich .
