Ebrach music summer
The Ebracher Musiksommer is a classical music festival in Franconia that was launched in 1990 by the conductor and artistic director Gerd Schaller . The concerts take place in the premises of the former Cistercian Abbey of Ebrach Monastery : the baroque imperial hall and the early Gothic abbey church. Other venues outside of Ebrach are the Max Littmann Hall of the Regentenbau Bad Kissingen and the Joseph Keilberth Hall of the Bamberg Concert Hall .
history
The Ebracher Musiksommer became internationally known primarily through the performance and complete recording of all of Anton Bruckner's symphonies with the Philharmonie Festiva under the direction of Gerd Schaller. In cooperation with the Anton Bruckner Institute Linz , the Ebracher Musiksommer 2011 organized a Bruckner Festival with the performance of the early symphonies 1, 2 and 3 and a scientific symposium on the topic of “Bruckner on the move”.
Another program focus is the performing and recording musical rarities: So that drew Bavarian Television , the Requiem by Franz von Suppè in the abbey church with the Philharmonic Choir Munich and the Philharmonie Festiva on (broadcast inter alia on.. 3sat ).
The rediscovery of the opera Merlin by Karl Goldmark and the Great Mass in E minor by Johann Ritter von Herbeck took place in the Regentenbau of Bad Kissingen. The live recordings were made in cooperation with the Bayerischer Rundfunk - Studio Franken and were released on the Profil Edition Günter Hänssler label.
At the concerts in the historic Kaisersaal, the program focuses primarily on works from the Baroque period and the Viennese Classic .
