Echinacoside is a glycoside found in the roots of the narrow-leaved coneflower ( Echinacea angustifolia ) and the pale coneflower ( Echinacea pallida ).

From a chemical point of view, it consists of 2 moles of glucose and 1 mole of rhamnose , which are glycosidically bound to 2- (3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) ethanol and esterified with caffeic acid . It therefore also belongs to the group of carboxylic acid esters and to the phenols .

With iron salts, echinacoside shows a dark green color in aqueous and ethanolic solution .

Echinacoside are attributed to antibiotic , anti-inflammatory, and immune-stimulating effects.
