Eckart Uhlmann

Eckart Gunter Uhlmann (born January 4, 1958 in Stuttgart ) is a full university professor for manufacturing , production technology and machine tools at the TU Berlin .

Life

Since September 1997 Uhlmann has been Günter Spur's successor in the management of the Berlin Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Management (IWF).

At the same time he is the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK) and head of the Production Technology Center in Berlin. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Malaya for special services to research and teaching . Uhlmann himself was surprised at the award of the title. Uhlmann is also a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) .

Uhlmann studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and worked as a research assistant from 1986 to 1994. He did his doctorate there in 1993 on the subject of "Deep grinding of high-strength ceramic materials".

He then worked for Hermes Schleifmittel GmbH & Co. until 1997 . From 2013 to 2016 he was chairman of the jury of the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award , which he will chair again in 2018

In 2016 Uhlmann was elected to the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences .
