Eckehart Wolff
Eckehart Wolff (born August 24, 1929 in Schlierbach ; † July 18, 2015 in Worms ) was honorary capitular in the diocese of Mainz and provost at Worms Cathedral .
Life
On August 1, 1953, Wolff received the sacrament of ordination through Bishop Albert Stohr in Mainz Cathedral . This was followed by positions as a chaplain in Offenbach-Bürgel and Fürth (Odenwald) .
In 1958 he became an assistant in the Mainz seminary . Two years later he became an economist and in 1963 Bishop Hermann Volk appointed him sub-rain for the seminary under Josef Maria Reuss . Eckehart Wolff acted as provost at Worms Cathedral from 1966 until his retirement in October 1997 . In this office he was the successor to Provost Josef Adams. In January 1985, he appointed Bishop of Mainz Karl Lehmann to Ehrendomkapitular at Mainz Cathedral; thus he was a member of the Mainz cathedral chapter .
As a member of the board of trustees of the Worms Cathedral Building Association, Wolff contributed his many years of experience. He was the source of the ideas for the windows of the Nikolaus, Marien and Georg chapels of the Worms Cathedral created by Heinz Hindorf between 1967 and 1989 . Eckehart Wolff was honorary president of the Worms Kolping family .
Provost Wolff was buried on July 27, 2015 in the north transept of Worms Cathedral.
