Life

Edmond-Gustave Siot was the son of Louis Antoine Stanislas Siot (* 1801) and his wife Anastasie Ferrand. Together with Elise Decauville (* 1846), the daughter of François David Decauville (1811–1872) and Caroline Loyseau (* 1820), whom he married in 1865, he founded the Siot-Decauville fine art foundry in 1860 at Rue Villehardouin 8/10 in Paris. In addition to the production facility, the Éditeurs d'art first opened a sales gallery on Boulevard des Italiens, then later on Boulevard des Capucines 24.

The bronze and tin works produced works by many artists of the time such as Jean-Léon Gérôme , Georges Gardet , Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier , Antonin Mercié , Albert Bartholomé , Honoré Daumier Laurent Marqueste , Claudius Marioton , Georges Récipon , Pierre-Felix Masseau , Jean-Antoine Injalbert , Charles Vital-Cornu , Agathon Léonard , Charles Valton and François-Raoul Larche . The company also made bronze parts for furniture. From 1888 to 1891 the company worked with the foundryman and specialist in colored patinas, Léon Perzinka, under the signature Siot & Perzinka .

On the occasion of the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1897 Siot-Decauvilles was accepted as a knight in the Legion of Honor . After Edmond Siot-Decauville's death in 1908, his widow and son Paul (1867–1948) continued the company until 1926. After 1920 the foundry moved to 63 avenue Victor-Emmanuel III. From this time on, production was switched to the lost wax process .
