Edor Hjukström

Edor Albrekt Hjukström (* 8. May 1916 in Sorsele ; † 27. October 2002 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish officer, most recently in rank lieutenant colonel , and was present at the Winter Olympics in 1948 as a lieutenant member of the Swedish team at Vorführbewerb military patrol race , which in this Discipline won the bronze medal.

biography

Edor Hjukström was the youngest son of a master hunter and had three brothers. After attending primary school, he worked in forestry for three years and joined the Västerbottens regiment in Umeå in 1933 . In 1937 he completed his non-commissioned officer training at the Arméns Underofficersskola in Uppsala and obtained a university entrance qualification. 1939 won the army ski championship and was assigned as an ensign in 1942 to the Dalarna regiment ( Dalregementet ) in Falun . In 1941, 1942 and 1944 he took part in military patrols of the Dalarna regiment. In 1944 he was promoted to lieutenant and in 1945 he became an army chaplain. From 1946 to 1948 he was a platoon leader at the hunter school in Kiruna . In 1950 he was promoted to Kapten . From 1950 to 1951 he attended the War College ( Krigshögskolan ) and from 1953 to 1955 he was a candidate for the General Staff . In 1962 he was promoted to major , then was deputy battalion commander and responsible for training in the battalion. In 1966 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and assigned to the army staff ( Arméstaben ) of the Swedish army chief.
