In the years 1892/1893 he attended the trade school in Innsbruck on a scholarship . With Jonas Ranter and Ignaz Stolz (father) he worked on the painting of the parish church in Castelrotto. A stay in Munich followed .
In 1895 Burgauner restored the Marienkirche, today the Evangelical Church of Our Lady , in Memmingen under the direction of Rudolf von Seitz . From 1896–1898 he studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna , where he also worked with the Kott and Schönbrunner company. His work in the Anton Church in X. district in Vienna were highly appreciated, but destroyed during the war in 1944 to a large extent.
Around 1902 the painter returned to Castelrotto, where he shaped the village image in an ambitious program by painting several house facades.
