Eduard Jobst Siedler (born March 7, 1880 in Loburg near Jerichow , † February 1, 1949 in Berkeley , California ) was a German architect and specialist author.

Life

Siedler studied from 1899 to 1903 at the Technical University of Munich and the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg and then worked in Berlin as a freelance architect from 1908. In 1911 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Darmstadt with a thesis on garden art under Friedrich II. From 1926 to 1934 he was a professor at the Technical University of Berlin . In 1943, Siedler was appointed professor of building materials, building surveying, building management and structural air protection at the Technical University of Berlin. He also worked as editor of the magazine Die Baugilde , the organ of the Association of German Architects .

Eduard Jobst Siedler is a brother of the diplomat Wolf Jobst Siedler and an uncle of the publisher Wolf Jobst Siedler .

Zehlendorf Town Hall (1926-1929)

Buildings and designs

Together with Otto Bongartz, Siedler built the Zehlendorf Town Hall (Berlin) from 1926 to 1929, drafted the plans, among other things, in 1928 for a block of flats in Berlin on Sodener Strasse for the Deutsche Baugenossenschaft zu Berlin , and from 1928 to 1931 for the extension of the one destroyed in World War II Reich Chancellery (together with his colleague Robert Kisch ), 1938/1939 for the Reich Air Defense School in Heckeshorn am Wannsee and 1943 for the Heckeshorn bunker .
