Eduard Josef Müller

Eduard Josef Müller (born March 17, 1851 in Ellenhausen , Duchy of Nassau ; † November 7, 1922 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School . In Frankfurt am Main he worked as a drawing teacher and local politician for the Center Party .

Life

After completing his first professional training in the seminar in Montabaur, Müller studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . From 1873 to 1875 he was a pupil for building painting and the construction class of Wilhelm Lotz . He settled in Frankfurt am Main, where he worked full-time as a drawing teacher at the Elisabeth School and at the teachers' seminar . He also made a name for himself as a landscape painter. Besides landscapes, he painted genre pictures. At an advanced age he turned to religious portrait painting. Müller was a member of the Frankfurt Artists Society.

In 1901 he became a member of the Frankfurt city council as a representative of the Center Party . As a local politician and as a writer, he worked in the field of educational policy in favor of denominational schools .
