Eduard Chamber

Eduard Kammer (born February 2, 1839 in Gumbinnen , East Prussia , † December 21, 1910 in Friedenau near Berlin) was a German classical philologist and high school teacher in Prussia.

Life

Kammer attended the Friedrichsschule Gumbinnen and the old town high school in Königsberg. From Easter 1858 he studied classical philology at the Albertus University . In 1858 he became active with the Silber-Litthauer . In July 1862 Dr. phil. after receiving his doctorate, he passed the exam pro facultate docendi in 1863 . He joined Michaelis in 1862 as a full member of the pedagogical seminar and taught in this position at the Collegium Fridericianum . He taught at this school until Easter 1880, most recently as the second senior teacher. At Christmas 1873 he was awarded the title of professor. From April 5, 1880 he was director of the Royal Lyck High School . There he published program treatises. At the 1st Foundation Festival of the Old Men Senior Citizens' Convention in Gumbinnen in December 1887, he gave the imperial speech to Wilhelm II. From 1891 he was a provincial school councilor at the high presidium of the Schleswig-Holstein province in Schleswig. In the same capacity he was from 1897 on the High Presidium of the Province of Silesia in Breslau. After promotion to the Upper Government Council , he became director of the East Prussian Provincial School College in Königsberg in 1900. He retired in 1905 and moved to Berlin . He led the character professor as a philologist and a secret government councilor as an administrative officer. With Karl von Gamp-Massaunen and Paul von Bienenstamm he received the ribbon of the Corps Baltia Königsberg on May 17, 1906 .
