Eduard Kern (politician)

Eduard Ferdinand Kern (born July 15, 1900 in Landau in the Palatinate ; † September 17, 1966 there ) was a German forester , association official and politician ( FDP , SPD ).

Life

Kern attended elementary school and secondary school in Landau. He passed the Abitur at the secondary school in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and then completed a degree in forest science in Munich . After completing his legal clerkship in Annweiler am Trifels , he took over the management of a tree nursery and fruit growing business based in Landau from his father in 1926. In addition to his work as a tree nursery owner, he held positions in professional interest groups, including as chairman of the Association of German Tree Nurseries , as chairman of the Association of Small and Fruit Distilleries in the Rhineland Palatinate and as Deputy Chairman of the Association of Vegetable, Fruit and Horticulture in the Palatinate.

Kern was a member of the German National People's Party (DNVP) before 1933 and a member of the Stahlhelm until he joined the SA .

After 1945 he was one of the founders of the Social People's Union (SV) in Landau, which merged with the Liberal Party (LP) to form the Rhineland-Palatinate FDP .

Kern was councilor of the city of Landau. In the state elections in 1951 and 1955 , he was elected as a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament, to which he was a member until 1959. In parliament he was a member of the Borderlands Committee from 1951 to 1959 and of the Petitions Committee from 1951 to 1955. In 1958 he joined the SPD and on November 10, 1958, he joined the SPD parliamentary group. His candidacy for the German Bundestag in the 1953 Bundestag election was unsuccessful.
